X-Ray Film and Thermal Paper Compatibility Chart

Medelem supplies dry imaging film, CR consumables and ultrasound thermal paper for Agfa DRYSTAR, Carestream DRYVIEW, Fujifilm DRYPIX and Sony UP-series printers. This chart lists which film fits which printer model, in which sizes, and which combinations are not interchangeable. All items ship from stock in Bulgaria to Europe, the CIS, MENA and Africa.

Compatibility below is taken from manufacturer datasheets and product specifications. Where a printer model is not listed, we have not confirmed compatibility — ask us rather than assume.

Which film fits an Agfa DRYSTAR printer?

Agfa DRYSTAR DT 2 is a second-generation direct digital greyscale medium built on a 168 µm blue PET base, with a maximum optical density of ≥ 2.75 and daylight loading. It ships 100 sheets per box with a 36-month shelf life from the manufacturing date. The same packaging and shelf life apply to DT2 MAMMO. General radiology and mammography films are not interchangeable: mammography requires the MAMMO variant.

Storage and handling (DRYSTAR DT 2): store before use at 4–25 °C. Shelf life 36 months from the manufacturing date. Printed images archive for a minimum of 15 years in facilities complying with ISO 18911:2010 and ISO 18919:1999. Avoid prolonged storage above 35 °C and prolonged exposure on view boxes.

Which film fits a Carestream DRYVIEW printer?

Carestream DRYVIEW film is dry laser film developed by laser exposure and heat, with no wet chemistry. All three current films fit the same four imagers — DRYVIEW 5700, 5950, 6800 and 6950 — so the choice is driven by application, not by printer. Film is supplied in sealed daylight-load cartridges of 125 sheets.

Base and density: DVB+ uses a 7 mil blue polyester base for general-purpose imaging. Mammography film carries a higher maximum optical density — Dmax ≥ 3.6 for DVM and up to 4.0 for DVM+ — which is what makes microcalcifications visible.

Which film fits a Fujifilm DRYPIX printer?

Fujifilm DI-series film is a daylight-loading, blue polyester based dry thermal laser film, 175 µm thick, printing at up to 320 dpi with a maximum optical density of ≥ 3.6. Both current films fit the same DRYPIX imagers. The practical difference is thermal sensitivity: DI-HT is formulated for faster output, DI-HL for maximum sharpness.

Packaging and storage: DI-HL ships 100 sheets for 14×17″ and 150 sheets for other sizes. Store at 10–23 °C and 30–50 % relative humidity — a narrower range than the Agfa DRYSTAR films, which tolerate 4–25 °C.

Which thermal paper fits my ultrasound printer?

Ultrasound thermal paper is specified by roll width and grade, not by sheet size. Sony classifies grades as Type I (standard), Type II (high density) and Type V (high gloss); Durico SUPER ULSTAR is the compatible alternative and matches Sony grade for grade, including roll length. Durico also covers Mitsubishi printers, which Sony media does not.

Compatible printers (110 mm rolls): Sony UP-850, UP-880, UP-870MD, UP-890MD, UP-895MD and the UP-895, UP-897 and UP-898 series. Mitsubishi P-70, P-90, P-91, P93 and P95. SUPER ULSTAR-1100S Mibi is the exception: it is made for video printers that take Mitsubishi K61-series media. Packing: each roll in a sealed pouch, 5 rolls per inner box, 10 inner boxes per master carton.

The Sony originals, for reference. Sony grades its own UPP media by type number, and the roll length changes with the grade – a detail that causes more ordering mistakes than the width does.

One Sony grade has no Durico counterpart: UPP-110HA, the Type III high-contrast paper. If a department is running HA, the nearest Durico substitute is SUPER ULSTAR-1100HD (Type II), which is denser than standard but not contrast-boosted – check the result before switching a whole department across.

Match the grade, not the roll length

Durico SUPER ULSTAR holds the same length as the Sony roll it replaces: 20 m for standard and high-density grades, 18 m for high gloss. A Durico roll priced below the Sony equivalent is therefore genuinely cheaper per metre, not cheaper per roll only. The mistake to avoid is different — comparing an 18 m high-gloss roll against a 20 m standard roll and reading the two metres as a discount. They are different grades, not different quantities. Match Sony Type I to standard, Type II to high density and Type V to high gloss, then compare price.

What do Matt and Mibi mean in a Durico paper name?

In Durico SUPER ULSTAR paper names, “Matt” and “Mibi” mean the same thing: a matte, non-reflective surface. They are not different quality tiers. The difference between SUPER ULSTAR-1100S Mibi and SUPER ULSTAR-1100HD Matt is therefore density, not finish – Mibi is the standard-density matte paper, HD Matt the high-density one, printing the darker blacks and wider greyscale of the 1100HD line. SUPER ULSTAR-1100S Mibi runs in ultrasound video printers that take Mitsubishi K61-series media. Choose a matte roll when examination-room lighting reflects off gloss paper and makes the printout hard to read at the bedside, or when images are photocopied or scanned into a patient file. Choose gloss – SUPER ULSTAR-1100HG, the Sony Type V equivalent – when the print is the diagnostic record and maximum contrast matters more than glare.

Which combinations do not work?

Explicit incompatibilities matter as much as compatibilities — they are the mistakes that generate returned orders and wasted budget.

What about Konica Minolta REGIUS?

REGIUS is a computed radiography reader, not a hardcopy printer, so it does not take imaging film at all. Its consumables are CR cassettes and photostimulable imaging plates, available in 20×25 cm (8×10″), 25×30 cm (10×12″), 28×35 cm (11×14″), 35×35 cm (14×14″), 35×43 cm (14×17″) and 24×30 cm. Cassettes and plates are supplied for the REGIUS 110, 170, 190 and 210 readers and REGIUS Sigma. One constraint is easy to miss: on the REGIUS 170 and 190, only cassettes and plates manufactured after April 2004 are usable.
