Product Details

AGFA CP-BU M — Blue-Sensitive X-Ray Film for General Radiology

AGFA CP-BU M is a high-speed, medium- to high-contrast blue-sensitive X-ray film for general radiology. It is a conventional wet-processed film, used in combination with blue-emitting rare earth and calcium tungstate intensifying screens, and built on a deep blue polyester base. CP-BU M belongs to Agfa's CP family of films alongside CP-BU new and the green-sensitive Ortho CP-G Plus, CP-GU and CP-GU M.

Because it is a chemically processed film, CP-BU M is not interchangeable with dry thermal media such as Agfa DRYSTAR DT2B or DT 5000. It requires a darkroom, an automatic processor or manual tanks, and developer and fixer chemistry.

Why radiology departments choose CP-BU M

  • One film for the whole department. The characteristic curve is designed so that contrast in the middle section and shoulder gives clear visualisation for bone work and angiography, while the toe of the curve renders low-density areas — diaphragm, retrocardial, mediastinal and spinal regions — without losing detail. Lung field structures are reproduced clearly.
  • Consistent output under imperfect conditions. Agfa's Disc Grain technology holds image quality at a constant level even when the film is processed in weakened chemistry or in unfavourable darkroom conditions — the single most common cause of inconsistent results in high-throughput departments.
  • Low sensitivity to desensitising marks, reducing rejected exposures caused by handling.
  • Neutral, easy-to-read image tone. The deep blue polyester base produces a neutral look that reduces reader fatigue over long reporting sessions.

Available sizes

Medelem stocks CP-BU M in fourteen sizes: 13×18 cm (5×7″), 15×30 cm (6×12″), 15×40 cm, 18×24 cm, 18×43 cm (7×17″), 20.3×25.4 cm (8×10″), 20×40 cm, 24×30 cm, 25.4×30.5 cm (10×12″), 28×35 cm (11×14″), 30.5×38.1 cm (12×15″), 30×40 cm, 35×35 cm (14×14″) and 35×43 cm (14×17″).

What CP-BU M does not work with

  • Dry thermal imagers — Agfa DRYSTAR, Carestream DRYVIEW and Fujifilm DRYPIX printers all require dry thermal media. CP-BU M is a wet-processed film and cannot be used in them.
  • Green-emitting intensifying screens — CP-BU M is blue-sensitive. For green-emitting screens use the Ortho CP-G Plus, CP-GU or CP-GU M films.
  • Mammography — CP-BU M is a general radiology film. Mammography requires a dedicated mammography film.
